Shifting the Political: Portraits of Power
The Center for Photography at Woodstock,
Woodstock, NY. November - December 2004
The exhibition Shifting the Political: Portraits of Power brought together five
artists working in photography who shift attention to places not traditionally
instilled with the value of power. Emerging from the philosophy articulated
in the phrase “the personal is political and the political is personal,” the
artists in Shifting the Political called attention both to locations of political
power and the politics of representation.
The exhibition was curated by Ariel
Shanberg, featuring work by Gillian Laub (NYC), Tim Lehmacher ( Germany ), Paul
Shambroom (MN), & Two Girls Working: Tiffany Ludwig (NJ) & Renee Piechocki
(PA).
